A Year Ago Today

February 22, 2015 by Kristen Smith

Hello Friends!!

I believe a new hashtag has been created.  #TB1Y = Throw Back One Year!

What did you do on February 22, 2014?  Typically I wouldn’t remember what I did a year ago, unless it was a memorable day.  A year ago today was a Saturday.  I remember it was a particularly warm day for February in Atlanta, so we jumped on the opportunity to go for a run outside. When we got back from the run it was time to get ready for dinner with our friends.  I do not remember what inspired me to do this, but before I got ready I decided to take a pregnancy test and….

IT WAS POSITIVE!

Soooo many emotions immediately poured through my head.  Feelings of excitement, nervousness, and the unknown were present.  The last pregnancy test I had taken was approximately 4 months prior, when I experienced a very early miscarriage.  During this first pregnancy I actually had signs of the miscarriage before I knew of the pregnancy. While the first pregnancy was devastating, there were a few positive outcomes.  One was that my body was able to conceive a child.   On February 22, 2014 I had no signs of a miscarriage.

A few hours after the positive pregnancy test we met another couple for dinner at a quick casual Italian restaurant. At this point the excitement was starting to take over.  The entire time we sat there at dinner I kept thinking about what was going on inside me – I was pregnant. A few weeks later we found out the other couple was also pregnant and due a few weeks ahead of us.  Ironically, we both sat there at dinner that evening holding in a life changing secret.

Here we are year later with our 4 month old son.  This milk lovin’ child has changed our lives forever.  We are so full of love for him.  So thankful.

February 22, 2014 is a day I will never forget.

Big fan of Las Vegas restaurants. Great date spot. Makes me psyched to be a foodie and head upstate. Awesome staff as well. Such amazing and really fresh food. The only downside is that it fills up quickly.
