In today’s post, I share five of my favorite dollar store finds to help entertain your toddler with indoor activities on a rainy day!
Hi Friends!
I have a confession to share today – I am obsessed with the dollar store! It all started last summer when I visited a dollar store to pick up some toys for my toddler to take on an upcoming vacation. I wanted to pick up some non-expensive toys that were easy to travel with, and I didn’t particularly care if they got lost. Since that trip last summer I have frequented several of our local dollar stores to pick up toys and seasonal products for upcoming events. I find such a thrill in a good bargain!
Today I am sharing five toys/activities I picked up from a dollar store recently to have on hand for a “rainy day.” It just so happened that a week or so after my purchase of these dollar store finds we were on storm Irma watch and stuck in the house for a few days. Boy, was I glad I had stocked up my rainy day supplies to keep my energetic toddler entertained!
1. Foam Alphabet Puzzle
My toddler had a blast identifying the letters while also locating where they go on the puzzle. We made a game out of taking turns placing the letters in the puzzle and saying words that started with that particular letter. We were able to rotate this activity several times throughout the day.
2. Character Activity Pack
My son has a few favorite television shows he adores (and does get to watch on occasionn). It turns out for one dollar you can get a character pack with stickers, coloring books, and stand up paper dolls. So much creativity packed into one dollar!
3. Play-Doh Stamp Kit
What toddler doesn’t love Play-Doh? Mine is obsessed. It goes without saying that I was super excited when I found this Play-Doh pack that included a stamp for only one dollar. I found several different colors paired with different stampers, but chose this blue variety. For a few dollars, you could have quite the selection!
4. Echo Microphone
He had a blast singing some of his favorite toddler songs and nursery rhymes. This lightweight plastic microphone doesn’t require batteries and contains a chamber and spring inside for additional reverberation of the child’s voice. I plan to purchase more of these and use for birthday party favors in the future!
5. Create-a-Sticker Scene
Just like Play-Doh, stickers are something toddlers are always excited about. These sticker sets allow toddlers (and potentially elementary school children) to use their creativity and design a fun scene. I have seen several different themes to choose from including outer space and character scenes. This particular scene did not consist of reusable stickers, but I have more recently found some that do.
Please note: I was not compensated for this post, and all thoughts and opinions are my one. Not all of my dollar store findings have been a success, but these are some of my favorite purchases.
