This easy Orange Creamsicle Overnight Oats recipe is made with only a few ingredients including oats and 100% orange juice and can be prepared in less than five minutes.
Hi Friends!
Preparing meals ahead of time is a perfect way for me to ensure I provide my family with healthy and balanced meal choices even during hectic times. One of my absolute favorite breakfast recipes to prepare in advance is Overnight Oats. The preparation for overnight oats is simple – all you have to do is is mix a few ingredients you likely already have in the kitchen (like oats) and then refrigerate. The oats will soak overnight and absorb the liquid you added to form a creamy mixture. In the morning, a delicious breakfast will be waiting!
Over the past few years, I posted several different Overnight Oats recipes on the blog (Overnight Cookie Dough Oats, Overnight Pumpkin Pie Oats, and Overnight Baby Oats are a few). I typically use the same basic recipe and add some ingredients to create different flavors. The core ingredients for my overnight oat recipes include equal amounts of oats, yogurt, and milk in addition to chia seeds and sweetener of choice.
When I set out to make today’s recipe for Orange Creamsicle Overnight Oats, I decided to change up the basic recipe. I substituted the typical liquid, milk, with Florida Orange Juice. The substitution resulted in a delicious sweet and tangy flavored overnight oats recipe. Florida Orange Juice contains no added sugar but with the natural sweetness provided I was able to significantly reduce the amount of sweetener added.
What are some other health benefits of adding Florida Orange Juice to the recipe? It provides several key nutrients such as vitamin C, Potassium, and Folate. These nutrients are helpful with things like the formation of collagen (components of bones and gums), healthy red blood cells, muscle function, and fluid balance. An 8-ounce glass of 100% orange juice counts as one of your daily recommended intake of fruit. A perfect solution for those family members who aren’t huge fans of other fruit options!
One of the fun aspects of this recipe is deciding on your toppings. Most likely each of your family members will go a different route. My choice of toppings was cacao nibs and orange zest. A few other possible toppings that come to mind are orange slices, nuts, cranberries, or coconut shreds. The options are limitless!
Enjoy!
